Khalistan Commando Force

A movement started by Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bindranwale, to break the handcuffs slavery and harassment from the hands of the Sikh nation, many singhs and singhnia jumped into the battlefield to fight against the corrupt Indian forces. The village Lubania-Wali, district Mukhatsar has given 2 of the top Khadkus to the Sikh Freedom Movement, Bhai Mahinder Singh Khalsa Lubania-Wali and Bhai Subeg Singh Lubania-Wali. Stories of these 2 warriors are regularly talked about when 2 or more people get together in the village Lubania-Wali.

Bhai Mahinder Singh Khalsa Lubania-Wali was born in 1954 in the house of Sardar Bagga Singh and Mata Gurdial Singh also known as Mata Labh Kaur. Bhai Sahibs older brother was Bhai Jaag Singh and younger brother was Bhai Baljinder Singh Fauji. Bhai Sahib had 2 sisters, Bibi Gurdeep Kaur and Bibi Kashmir Kaur. Bhai Sahib studied at a local school up until 5th class then went on to study at Khalsa Senior Secondary School in Mukhatsar till passing 10th class. Bhai Sahib studied for 2 more years at a college in Patiala. As family was struggling to make ends meet, Bhai Sahib dropped his education and joined his brothers in farming.

In 1983 after listening to speeches of Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bindranwale, Bhai Sahib wanted to contribute towards the Sikh Freedom Movement. Bhai Sahib joined Sikh Student Federation along with 25 more singhs from his district. Bhai Sahib was selected as the leader of the Mukhatsar Branch. Bhai Sahib brothered Bhai Chota Singh Rangrita by swapping each others turban, an old cultural tradition. Bhai Sahib also did sewa with Bhai Subeg Singh Lubania-Wali, a strict character who had no mercy for the enemies of the panth. Bhai Sahibs group became more active within the movement after seeing the injustice of the Indian government. The attack on Sri Harimandir Sahib and many surrounding gurughars with guns and tanks left Bhai Sahib in anger and sadness. The Indian government like butchers murdered countless Sikhs. 6th June 1984 Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bindranwale along with couple hundred Jhujarus repeated the Battle of Chamkaur at the Darbar Sahib. The singhs fed the Indian Government with bullets while defending the holy city of Amritsar. And many singhs drank the nectar of martyrdom.

June 1984 onwards the Indian army started arresting baptised Sikhs in Punjab. 5000 Indian army surrounded the village Lubania-Wali, no one was able to leave the village. 6am the Indian army arrested Bhai Subeg Singh Lubania-Wali from his house on the outskirts of the village, the army tied Bhai Subeg Singhs hand and then asked him to reveal the location of Bhai Sahib and Bhai Chota Singh but Bhai Subeg Singh said that he hadn’t seen the singhs for couple of days. The army took Bhai Subeg Singh Lubania-Wali to the local Police station. Bhai Sahib and Bhai Chota Singh Rangrita where fixing a tyre to a bicycle beside the road that Bhai Subeg Singh Lubania-Wali passed by. Bhai Sahib automatically knew that the army was looking for these warriors. After locking up Bhai Subeg Singh at the local Police Station, the army along with the local police officer in charge went to the house of Bhai Sahib. As the army approached Bhai Sahibs house, Bhai Sahib along with Bhai Chota Singh Rangrita were outside blending into the crowd, the local police officer went to Bhai Sahib and asked if they had seen Bhai Mahinder Singh and Bhai Chota Singh? This was a sign to Bhai Sahib by the police officer to be careful. But Bhai Sahib answered that they haven’t seen the singhs for couple of days. Bhai Sahib and Bhai Chota Singh with the help of the police officer got away and made it out of the village Lubania-Wali. The army gave up looking for the 2 singhs and took Bhai Subeg Singh with them.

Bhai Sahib loved and treated gurbani with upmost respect. Bhai Sahib enjoyed doing sewa at gurudwaras and would encourage Sikhs to take amrit of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Bhai Sahib would gift the sangat that were taking amrit with the 5 Kakkars and a Sundar Gutka. Out of Bhai Sahibs honest living a dasvandh went towards the panth regular. Bhai Sahib was a strong believer of truth and equality. Bhai Sahib was an older brother figure to all and met everybody with love and never intentionally hurt someone’s feelings. Bhai Sahib did sewa for the Sikh Freedom Movement secretively.

Bhai Sahib met up with Bhai Sawarn Singh Fauji Thamanwala and after doing sewa with him, Bhai Sahib met Bhai Gurjant Singh Rajasthani of Khalistan Commando Force and the famous Khadku of that time Bhai Jarnail Singh Sutrana. Bhai Sahib and Bhai Jarnail Singh Sutrana studied at the same college in Patiala. Punjab Police and the Indian Government forces got the news of Bhai Sahib and his sewa.

Police also believed that Bhai Gurjant Singh Rajasthani went undercover in the village of Lubania-Wali with the help of Bhai Sahib. To get information on Bhai Jarnail Singh Sutrana, the police and the army had surrounded Lubania-Wali. The police searched the village to find Bhai Sahib and Bhai Gurjant Singh Rajasthani or even Bhai Jarnail Singh Sutrana. Bhai Sahib and Bhai Gurjant Singh Rajasthani were in the village at the time of searches, and once again with the intelligence of Bhai Sahib both of the singhs fooled the armed forces of India and made it out of the village. After this the village of Lubania-Wali was not safe for Bhai Sahib and the singhs.

Bhai Sahib was given the sewa of finding another safe place where the singhs could stay by the Khalistan Commando Force Rajasthani group. Bhai Sahib was knowledgeable and intelligent and that helped Bhai Sahib gain the respect and trust of top Khadku Singhs. Khalistan Commando Force Rajasthani was well known within the Sikh Freedom Movement for their planning and advice on missions. Bhai Sahib and Bhai Gurjant Singh Rajasthani were one of the most known and trustworthy singhs within the Sikh Freedom Movement.

26th December 1991 due to information given to the police by an informant, the police had put up a blockade at a road in between the villages of Sardulgarh and Alhupur. Bhai Sahib and Bhai Gurjant Singh Rajasthani were coming from Sardulgarh on a bicycle and the police asked the 2 singhs to stop, but Bhai Gurjant Singh Rajasthani jumped of the bicycle and went into the field of Mustard. As the crops were long as 2metres Bhai Gurjant Singh Rajasthani was successful in getting away. But the police shot dead Bhai Sahib and was made shaheed. The following day the police mad a statement where they named the 2 singhs and what happened. Shaheed Bhai Mahinder Singh Khalsa of village Lubania-Wali attained shaheedi and joined the very long list of Panthic Martyrs.

23rd December 1992 an Akhand Paath was held for the remembrance of Bhai Sahib at the family house in Lubania-Wali, district Mukhatsar. The Akhand Paath had a heavy presence of Police, many traps were laid to catch Khadku Singhs but police did not get their hands on anyone but all the sangat did Darshan of Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj. Today the Singhni of Bhai Sahib and Bhai Sahibs son Bhai Surinder Singh are leaving the village of Lubania-Wali.
