Shaheed Bhai Kushkaranjot Singh Honey

Khalistan Commando Force

Bhai Kushkaranjot Singh was born on 11th March 1972 in the house of Master Harnath Singh and from the womb of Mata Lakhvir Kaur at his maternal village Pona, district Ludhiana. Master Harnath Singh had died very young, due to this Bhai Sahib was bought up by his mother and her brothers. Bhai Sahib was attached to Sikhi from his childhood. Bhai Sahib completed his primary education at Guru Nanak Bal Vikas in Jagraon, and passed his 10th class at Senior Secondary School of Dhudike. During school, Bhai Sahib took part in athletics mainly running, he also took part in national games also representing his school.

After the attack on Sri Darbar Sahib in June 1984, Bhai Sahib like many other young Sikh men jumped into the battlefield also. For a very long Bhai Sahib continued to take part in Jhujaru actions under the command of Khalistan Commando Force’s Bhai Paramjit Singh Panjwar and along with Jhujaru Singhs like Bhai Rupinder Singh Rupi Deol and Bhai Darshpreet Singh Roomi. On 17th May 1991, Bhai Sahib along with his Jhujaru brothers was surrounded by Indian security forces in the village of Hans Kalan. A fierce battle ensued, and Bhai Sahib along with his group of Jhujaru Singhs caused a lot of damage to the enemy. Bhai Sahib along with his 5 Jhujaru brothers, Bhai Rupinder Singh Rupi Deol, Bhai Darshpreet Singh Roomi, Bhai Hardeep Singh Rimpy, Bhai Sukhwinder Singh Kala, Bhai Mohan Singh Sheikhupura fought against one of the worlds best security forces for many hours. These Jhujaru Singhs were wounded but that did not stop them from fighting. In the end when all the ammunition had finished, the wounded Jhujaru Singhs were arrested and after being further tortured the Punjab police made them the martyrs of Khalistan. The bodies of these warriors were taken to Jagraon by the police, but the local Sikhs held a large protest to have their bodies handed back to their families who can then perform their final rights. Under the pressure of the Sikh protesters, the Punjab police gave in and handed the bodies of the 6 Jhujaru Singhs to their families. The cremation of the 6 Jhujaru Singhs was performed within the Sikh code of conduct. The cremation of Bhai Sahib was performed alongside the cremation of Shaheed Bhai Hardeep Singh Rimpy. This battle in which 6 young Sikh men attained martyrdom fighting the Indian security forces is known as the Hans Kalan encounter.

After the martyrdom of Bhai Sahib, the Punjab police as usual started harassing the mother and uncles of Bhai Sahib. Uncles, Sardar Ranbir Singh and Sardar Avtar Singh were arrested and tortured by the Punjab police. Sardar Ranbir Singh passed away sometime after the torture ordeal. Mata Lakhvir Kaur and Bhai Sahib’s sister in law, Bibi Karamjit Kaur and her 2 children were arrested and tortured at the Jagraon police station under the commands of Harbhagwan Sodhi and Inspector Hardeep Singh. The family of Bhai Sahib has suffered from unimaginable torture from the hands of Indian security forces, but even after this they have always stayed loyal to the Sikh struggle from day one.
