Bhai Surinder Singh Shinda was born in year 1968, in the house of father Sardar Swaran Singh and from the blessed womb of mother Mata Gurmej Kaur, in the village of Kang district Tarn Taran. Bhai Sahib was the youngest of 8 siblings, their names are as follows: oldest being sister Bibi Balwinder Kaur, Bibi Narinder Kaur, Bhai Lakhwinder Singh, Bhai Balwinder Singh, Bhai Joginder Singh, Bhai Bakhtawar Singh, Bhai Pashora Singh and the youngest of them all was Bhai Surinder Singh Shinda.

 

Bhai Sahib had completed his primary studies from a local government school of Kang village. Bhai Sahib had studied up until the 8th class. At first, Bhai Sahib rented and worked at a shop with his brothers, then later on Bhai Sahib started to drive the truck with his brothers. While Bhai Sahib was working as a truck driver, he came in contact with Jhujaru Singhs who were fighting an armed battle for Sikh homeland, Khalistan. Bhai Sahib instantly fell in love with the company Jhujaru Singhs and their dedication to the cause of freedom. Bhai Sahib attained martyrdom right after two months upon joining the Sikh freedom movement.

 

Bhai Sahib and Bhai Harnam Singh of Sanghna village carried out many fearless Jhujaru actions together and punished many killers of the Sikhs. On Monday the 18th November 1991, Bhai Sahib and fellow Jhujaru Singhs were involved in fierce battle with the Indian security forces near Fatehpur village, district Amritsar. In the end, Bhai Sahib along with another 3 Jhujaru Singhs attained martyrdom. The Punjab police had previously arrested Bhai Harnam Singh Sanghna, and had bought him to the location of this encounter and martyred him in fake encounter alongside Bhai Sahib.

 

The news of this encounter was printed in the Punjab Tribune newspaper. When the brother in-law of Bhai Bakhtawar Singh (brother of Shaheed Bhai Surinder Singh Shinda alias Mengha Singh Fauji) read the news, he informed the whole family of Bhai Sahib’s martyrdom. The body of Bhai Sahib cremated at the Seetla Mandir of Amritsar.

Jalandhar, 18 November – (journalist reports) In the last 24hrs in Punjab, Bhai Harnam Singh Sanghna, the Lt. General of BTF have been killed.

 

Alongside, Bhai Harnam Singh another 4 Jhujaru Singhs killed: Today in the morning, in a fierce battle in Amritsar’s Fatehpur village, the Area Commander of BTF Bhai Harnam Singh Sangha was killed alongside 4 other Jhujaru Singhs. At the scene, the police recovered 2 AK47 assault rifles, 1 .315 rifle, 1 12-gauge shotgun and great amount of ammunition.

 

According to the information received by PTI, letter pads belonging to different Jhujaru groups were also recovered which included letter pads of KCF (Zaffarwal), BTF and KLF. A threatening letter named to a business man was also recovered. The Punjab police DIG said that the Jhujaru Singhs had demanded 5 Lakh Rupees and for the money to be dropped off at religious institute.
