Shaheed Bhai Ranjit Singh Tharu

Khalistan Commando Force

Bhai Ranjit Singh Rana was born in the year of 1963, in the house of Sardar Gurdeep Singh and from the womb of Mata Parkash Kaur in the village of Tharu, district Tarn Taran. Bhai Sahib had 5 brothers and 1 sister. Sardar Gurdeep Singh supported Bhai Sahib the most in education so he could see his son become something. With the love of his mother and the support of his father, Bhai Sahib passed 12thclass and then enrolled for an ITI Course in Sarhali. After this Bhai Sahib started working at a workshop in Tarn Taran.

When Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale started the Dharam Yudh Morcha from Sri Darbar Sahib, Bhai Sahib disowned his parents and siblings to join in with this movement for the equal rights of Sikhs in India. It was from this moment Bhai Sahib had joined the Sikh struggle. Any mission Sant Ji gave to Bhai Sahib, he did with bravery and straight away. When Sant Ji’s right arm, Bhai Surinder Singh Sodhi was murdered in a hotel outside Sri Darbar Sahib, Bhai Sahib was amongst the Jhujaru Singhs who killed Baljit Kaur and another gangster to avenge the martyrdom of Shaheed Bhai Surinder Singh Sodhi. After the martyrdom of Shaheed Bhai Surinder Singh Sodhi, it was Bhai Sahib who Sant Ji kept real close to himself.

In Jun 1984, when the Indian army attacked Sri Darbar Sahib, Bhai Sahib helped the Sikh pilgrims who were unable to leave the complex due to the blind firing of the Indian army. When the Jhujaru Singhs had to defend the Sri Darbar Sahib, Bhai Sahib also joined them and fought with bravery. When Sant Ji ordered the Jhujaru Singhs to escape the Sri Darbar Sahib complex to continue the fight of Khalistan outside, Bhai Sahib was amongst these Jhujaru Singhs who escaped the complex. After escaping Bhai Sahib dedicated his remaining breaths to the establishment of Khalistan and never focused on anything else. Bhai Sahib’s name alone scared the police of Punjab, and in search of him the Punjab police started harassing the family of Bhai Sahib.  Bhai Sahib’s brother would get tortured at the police station. One day, fed up of the daily harassment by the hands of Punjab police, Bhai Inderpal Singh Billu and Bhai Harpreet Singh Tishu (brothers of Bhai Sahib), the other 3 brothers of Bhai Sahib were married and had gone to their in-laws house. Mata Parkash Kaur passed away worried about her sons, and the father, Sardar Gurdeep Singh was left homeless in his old age. Bhai Inderpal Singh Billu and Bhai Harpreet Singh Tishu were totally innocent. In 1986, the younger brother of Bhai Sahib, Bhai Harpreet Singh Tishu was arrested by the Punjab police and after being in police custody for 4 days, he was made a martyr in a false encounter. Bhai Sahib avenged the killing of his brother by sending the killers to hell and never killing a single innocent person.

Once Bhai Sahib was surrounded by the police near Nakodar, but fortunately the Jhujaru Singhs managed to make an escape. But while escaping Bhai Sahib dropped a valuable weapon which he was given by Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale, Bhai Sahib was very sad because of this. Bhai Sahib was feared amongst the looters and thieves of the Jhabbal area, Bhai Sahib had all the criminals voluntary give their arrest to Jhabbal’s SSP Brar, during this time the SSP did not know what Bhai Sahib looked like, it was later he realised who Bhai Sahib was. Bhai Sahib funded many Anand Karaj’s of girls from poor backgrounds and helped rebuilt broken marriages. Bhai Sahib also did not let and difficulties come upon the Hindus of the Tarn Taran area. In fact Bhai Sahib rehoused Hindus that had left Taran Tarn area by bringing them back and protecting them. This proves that Jhujaru Singhs did not kill Hindus. It was the government paid criminals turned black cats who killed innocent people to give the Sikh Freedom Movement a bad name.

The whole family of Bhai Sahib was blindly tortured, later Bhai Inderpal Singh Billu, the older brother of Bhai Sahib was also killed in a false encounter. After all this injustice the police still did not get any information that led to the capture of Bhai Sahib. On 21stAugust 1988, Bhai Sahib was arrested along with 2 family members, after an informant gave his location to the police. During blind torture Bhai Sahib grabbed the revolver of the Police Inspector, but his hand slipped and after this Bhai Sahib was tortured inhumanely. In the end due to brutal torture, Bhai Sahib was unable to walk, the Punjab police decided to kill Bhai Sahib as he was giving no information. On 24thAugust 1988, a press release from the Punjab police was printed on the front pages stating the Bhai Ranjit Singh of Tharu village had been made a martyr in a fierce battle with Indian security forces.

Note: we are afraid to state that the whole list of Bhai Sahib’s action was not sanctioned to be printed by Sant Sipahi magazine. But amongst these actions was Bhai Sahib dressing up as police officer to break free General Labh Singh from Jalandhar courts.
