Shaheed Bhai Nirmal Singh Nimma Bandala

Khalistan Commando Force

Bhai Sahib was born from the womb of Mata Gurmeet Kaur and in the house of Sardar Surat Singh. Bhai Sahib was born into a very poor family, whose livelihood depended on small scale farming. Coming from such a poor and uneducated background, Bhai Sahib did not attend school. Bhai Sahib’s father had also passed away when he was very young. Bhai Sahib was now the man of the house, feeding his mother, young sister and 3 young brothers. As Bhai Sahib was the eldest child, he had to mature very quickly and take responsibility of the household duties. Bhai Sahib spent most of his time tending to his farm land.

In his early adulthood, Bhai Sahib took Amrit from the Panj Pyare. Bhai Sahib was a very spiritual and a connected soul to Waheguru. Bhai Sahib would regularly do selfless service at their local Gurdwara of the village. In 1988, Bhai Sahib came in contact with the Jhujaru Singhs associated with Bhai Jagtar Singh Dhola of the Khalistan Commando Force (Bhai Wassan Singh Zaffarwal group). Bhai Sahib too began doing actions with this group of Jhujaru Singhs, alongside Bhai Sukhdev Singh Sukha (village Rasoolpur), Bhai Jagtar Singh (village Bandala), Bhai Mukhtiar Singh (village Bandala), Bhai Gurbachan Singh (village Bandala) and many other Jhujaru Singhs.

Few days after the well documented ‘Operation Mand’, Bhai Sahib was travelling through the Khemkaran village, for a very important task given to him by the senior command of Khalistan Commando Force. Bhai Sahib was unarmed at this time. All of a sudden whilst Bhai Sahib was enroute, near the drain of Gajjal village, the CRPF surrounded him. Upon capturing Bhai Sahib, the CRPF took him to the Khemkaran police station. Here, there was a Thanedar by the name of Subha Sarhand, who mercilessly tortured Bhai Sahib. Bhai Sahib’s nails were pulled off his fingers, boiling hot water was poured onto his body, along with other painful tortures.

During the time he was tortured not once did Bhai Sahib utter who he was or which Jhujaru group if was with. After the treacherous torture inflicted on Bhai Sahib, the Thanedar took him to the village Parhigarhi (in the Patti district) and made Bhai Sahib a martyr of Khalistan in a fake encounter, along with another Sikh male. Even after the martyrdom of Shaheed Bhai Nirmal Singh Nimma Bandala, the police lied, stating the body was unrecognisable, therefore unable to identify the person.
