Shaheed Bhai Bikramjit Singh Sultanwind

Khalistan commando Force

The sacrifices of Shaheeds are the flourishment of their Panth. Amongst such Shaheeds is Bhai Bikramjit Singh of Sultanwind, district Amritsar. Bhai Sahib was born in the house of Sardar Amrik Singh and from the womb of Mata Gurdeep Kaur on 4th February 1971. The atmosphere in Bhai Sahib’s family was of religious views. Bhai Sahib himself was religious from his childhood. Bhai Kanwarjit Singh Sultanwind was Bhai Sahib’s first cousin and Bhai Gurnam Singh Pehlwan was his older brother, who gave many sacrifices in the Sikh armed struggle of Khalistan.

On 4th February 1987, Bhai Sahib was heading home from Bhai Gurnam Singh Pehlwan’s in-laws. Bhai Sahib was kidnapped on his way by the Punjab Police merely because he was related to a Jhujaru Singh. The enemy dropped below the level of humanity and after 6 months of blind torture Bhai Sahib’s family got the news of him being in custody of the police. When the family bought Bhai Sahib home, his body was in serious condition. Due to so much torture, Bhai Sahib was unable to walk. It was this experience that made Bhai Sahib decide that if he wants to live with honour he will not come into the hands of the police. Bhai Sahib now picked up an AK47 and made it his mission to do sewa of the Panth till his last breath. Bhai Sahib became an active Jhujaru Singh on the battlefield of Khalistan.

Sometime later Bhai Sahib joined Khalistan Commando Force under the command of Bhai Paramjit Singh Panjwar. When the Batala Police chief, Gobind Ram tortured Bibi Gurmeet Kaur and Bibi Gurdev Kaur, the locals angrily protested.  This resulted in the 2 Singhni’s being released and Gobind Ram was transferred to another city. Bhai Sahib was deeply hurt knowing of the ill treatment of Sikh women by Gobind Ram, and wanted to take revenge and for this mission Bhai Sahib stayed in Jalandhar for 2 years in a different disguise. Bhai Sahib had given up everything to fulfil this mission.

Prioritising the sewa of the Sikh Panth, Bhai Sahib dropped his studies after higher secondary. Like this Bhai Sahib’s older brother Bhai Gurnam Singh Pehlwan attained Shaheedi in a fierce encounter in Ludhiana. Bhai Sahib took on the responsibilities of his brother and completed his missions. Bhai Sahib was also a good sportsman and due to this he won the hearts of the locals as well as other Jhujaru Singhs. Bhai Sahib did unlimited missions to keep the head of the Sikhs up. It was during this time on 4th September 1990, Bhai Sahib was near the village of Jaspal, when he was surrounded by the Indian security forces due to an informant. It was here Bhai Sahib attained Shaheedi fighting bravely.

The Shaheedi of Bhai Bikramjit Singh and Bhai Gurnam Singh Pehlwan is a challenge to the Sikh youth of today that these lives we live are given to us by our Gurus, instead of living it for just yourself, we should sacrifice our lives by breaking the chains of slavery and earning the happiness of our Gurus.
