Shaheed Bhai Satnam Singh Satta Valtoha

Bhindranwala Tigers Force of Khalistan

Bhai Satnam Singh Satta was born in the year 1972 to the blessed womb of mother Mata Joginder Kaur and father Jathedar Sardar Sewa Singh, in the village of Valtoha, Patti, district Tarn Taran. Bhai Satnam Singh had three sisters; Bibi Rajbir Kaur, Bibi Kulwant Kaur, Bibi Gurpreet Kaur and one brother Bhai Darshan Singh. His father was retired from the Indian army and was back home earning a living by cultivating their family-owned land. Bhai Satnam Singh was well aware of the regular visits and stays of the Jhujaru Singhs in their village and he was positively influenced by their presence. As soon as he completed his school years he had no future plans, other than to join his Jhujaru brothers in the fight for Khalistan, a Sikh homeland.

Bhai Satnam Singh joined the Jhujaru Singhs and went across the border into Pakistan for firearms training. Upon his return into Punjab, he joined the Bhindranwala Tiger Force of Khalistan under the command of Lieutenant General Bhai Surjit Singh Seetal Jhakkar. Together with the Jhujaru Singhs, they had the police chasing their own tails. They attacked many police stations and checkpoints. So much so, that the Jhujaru Singhs took full control over the area and the police stepped back in absolute fear.

His own cousin, Bhai Amarjit Singh Amba, who was only thirteen when he decided to join the Khalistan armed movement too having looked up to these Jhujaru Singhs. Bhai Satnam Singh and Bhai Pipal Singh Toofan (village Kalian Sakatran) both spent up to six months in Pakistan for firearm training. On their return, they transported a huge number of firearms into Punjab, which was then distributed amongst Jhujaru Singhs from different armed groups of Khalistan. Bhai Satnam Singh was blessed as Waheguru had bestowed on him an action only, he was capable of carrying out. Bhai Satnam Singh and Bhai Sarabjit Singh Hero (village Sakatran) were the closest of brothers, though not by blood. But their loyalty and love for each other was unmatched.

On 30th July 1990, Bhai Satnam Singh along with two of his fellow Jhujaru Singhs, Bhai Shinder Singh Raja (village Kalian Sakatran) and Bhai Salwinder Singh Dhamaka (village Kalian Sakatran) were staying at a house in village Lakhana, near Amarkot, district Tarn Taran. Suddenly, the police surrounded them. The two warriors fought like no other and shot down multiple police CRPF officers. The battle pursued for up to six hours. Bhai Satnam Singh Satta and Bhai Shinder Singh Raja both attained Shaheedi, whilst Bhai Salwinder Singh Dhamaka managed to escape from a window at the back of the house.

The families of the martyred Jhujaru Singhs got to know of their sons Shaheedi via news report in the newspapers. They went to the local hospital in Patti, but the police refused to give the families the body of their beloved soldiers. The police took it upon themselves to cremate the bodies, disrespectfully. A Sri Akhand Paath Sahib was held in their memory on 8th August 1990 and the entire village gathered to honour these Shaheeds.
