Shaheed Bhai Balvir Singh Bhai Rupa

Khalistan Commando Force

A Jhujaru Singh who fights for the truth and dies, gives birth to martyr who then gives birth to many more Jhujaru Singhs and like this the circle continues. Bhai Balvir Singh was born in the house of Sardar Mukhtyar Singh and from the womb of Mata Naseeb Kaur in the village of Bhai Rupa, district Bathinda. In the Sikh struggle started by Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Bhindranwale for freedom, many Sikh youth felt a part of, including Bhai Sahib. After the attack on Sri Darbar Sahib in June 1984 by the Indian army, in which thousands of innocent Sikh pilgrims were killed, Bhai Sahib joined Khalistan Commando Force under the command of Jathedar Manbir Singh Chaheru and started his Jhujaru life.

After this, Bhai Sahib’s name was mentioned in many actions by the Indian security forces and in the media. In the village of Bhai Rupa, the assassination of 14 police touts is still spoken of today and it is said that this action was done by Bhai Sahib himself. Bhai Sahib told Jhujaru Singhs to clean their own villages of police touts and informants, so that the Sikh freedom movement can make Indian security forces weaker from one aspect.

Bhai Sahib was now like a prick to the Indian security forces that would let them rest. The Punjab police started harassing Bhai Sahib’s family to get to Bhai Sahib. The Punjab police went to extreme measures to get Bhai Sahib that they arrested his older brother, Bhai Harjinder singh and his brother-in-law Bhai Malkit Singh, who worked in the Thermal Plant of Bathinda. The family never saw these men, it is believed that they were killed in false encounters by the Punjab police. Even after the killing of two members of his family, Bhai Sahib remained in high spirits and continued to do sewa within the Sikh Freedom Movement.

Then soon that day also came when a Jhujaru Singh meets is destiny of martyrdom. On 10th July 1992, Bhai Sahib was resting in house in the village of Dhillon Morh, district Barnala. A police informant had fed this informant to the Punjab police, in greed for the reward on Bhai Sahib’s head. The house in which Bhai Sahib was resting was surrounded by Indian security forces. It was here Bhai Sahib completed his duty for Khalistan and attained shaheedi.
