Shaheed Bhai Zubair Ahmed alias Baba Bohar Singh alias Khan

Babbar Khalsa/ Liberation Tigers of Khalistan

Bhai Zubair Singh was a resident of village Qaddian Mirze Diyan, district Gurdaspur. Bhai Sahib’s father was called Sharif Ahmed Sheikhapura, Bhai Sahib were 6 brothers and 2 sisters. Bhai Sahib was the youngest of all the children. Bhai Sahib was born on 8th June 1971 in the village of Qaddian. Bhai Sahib studied up till 10th class. Bhai Sahib was good player of Kabbadi and football.

When Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Bhindranwale started the Dharam Yudh Morcha for the demand of equality and justice, Bhai Sahib and his brother thought they should also do sewa with the Sikh panth. Bhai Sahib was always go to listen to Sant Ji’s speeches, this bought a change upon Bhai Sahib. In June 1984, the Indian army used their tanks and cannons to destroy Sri Akaal Takht Sahib. Many innocent Sikh pilgrims were mercilessly killed by the Indian government, all the blood of the innocent Sikhs made Bhai Sahib decide to jump into the battle of Khalistan.

In 1988, Bhai Sahib met Bhai Charat Singh, who introduced him to Bhai Kuldeep Singh Babbar and from here on Bhai Sahib joined Babbar Khalsa and started doing actions with bravery. In 1990, Bhai Sahib and his brother were arrested and blindly tortured by SP Goyal of Batala, but both brothers did not utter a single word against the Jhujaru Singhs. The police were angry due to not getting no information from these two brothers and sent them both to Gurdaspur jail on fake charges. After one month in jail both brothers were bailed.

Even after being released Zubair Ahmed alias Baba Bohar Singh continued to do sewa with Babbar Khalsa in secret while staying at home. On 23rd November 1990, the Punjab police again arrested Bhai Sahib and his brother who were both mercilessly torture for over a month. Even the family were not told where their sons were. Both brothers were interrogated at the CIA staff in Batala. After the police charged both brothers with numerous fake charges and sent them to jail. Sometime later after being released on bail, both brothers did not return home and instead they went underground. Both brothers had decided to return home once Khalistan was made and until then dedicated their lives to the establishment of Khalistan.

With great bravery Bhai Sahib continued to do Jhujaru actions with Babbar Khalsa. The Indian security feared Bhai Sahib and his name was said with pride around Punjab. The Punjab police put a reward on Bhai Sahib of 50,000 rupees. Bhai Sahib would challenge the Indian security forces in broad daylight and after lengthy encounters and causing heavy damage to the enemy Bhai Sahib would always escape unharmed. Anything the Indian security forces tried to capture Bhai Sahib had miserably failed. Looking at Bhai Sahib’s bravery and actions, he was given the rank of Lt Gen of Babbar Khalsa and to mark this day Bhai Sahib blew up a truck of BSF in the morning at 8:05am near a checkpoint in the village of Mathola, Sri Hargobindpur, the BSF truck was totally destroyed. Bhai Sahib did many more similar actions. In January 1992, Bhai Sahib then joined Liberation Tigers of Khalistan under the command of Bhai Lakhbir Singh. Even here Bhai Sahib continued to do bigger actions and soon Bhai Sahib was made the Lt Gen of Liberation Tigers of Khalistan.

In the end on 23rd June 1992 at 7 o’clock in the evening Bhai Sahib was surrounded by thousands of Indian soldiers and an encounter started. The Indian security forces were given the information of Bhai Sahib’s location by an informant. In a 7 hour encounter Bhai Sahib attained shaheedi battling the enemy along with his brother, Bhai Manzur Ahmed alias Tittoo. Bhai Sahib always helped the poor and the weak families including Hindus. Bhai Sahib also punished many anti-Sikh elements including traitors and informants. Bhai Sahib never attacked innocent people and nor did he allow his group to do so. In Qaddian Bhai Sahib punished people who would celebrate the shaheedi of Jhujaru Singhs. Bhai Sahib had read the whole Quran Shareef by the age of 10. Bhai Sahib did his daily prayers and on the day of his shaheedi, the Indian security found a Quran Shareef in his pocket.

Zubair Ahmed’s contribution to the Khalistan movement is evident that other Punjabi communities supported the cause of freedom from slavery at the hands of Hindustan. The Khalistan movement had many Muslims and Hindus who joined as they were discontent with living in India and subsequently wanted to experience the glow of freedom in a true democratic country; Khalistan.
