Shaheed Bhai Narinder Singh Bhola

Khalistan Commando Force

Bhai Narinder Singh Bhola was born in the year of 1965, in the village of Gago Bhua, district Tarn Taran from the womb of Mata Harcharan Kaur and in the house of Sardar Major Singh. Bhai Sahib had 3 brothers, one is in the army and other two helped out in the family farms. Bhai Sahib was religious from the start and would always take part in the sewa at the local gurudwara. Especially when the Gurudwara was being rebuilt, Bhai Sahib encouraged others youngsters to do sewa along with him. Bhai Sahib would do his nitnem and always read up on Sikh history.

In June 1984, the cannons and tanks of India destroyed the holiest shrine of the Sikhs and killed thousands of innocent Sikhs, from children to the elders. This had a deep effect on the Sikhs around the world including Bhai Sahib. Bhai Sahib started remaining quiet and depressed, few days after the attack, when the Indian army lifted the curfew, Bhai Sahib went to do darshan of Sri Harimandir Sahib. Looking at demolished Sri Akaal Takht Sahib, Bhai Sahib started to cry and curse the Indian government. Bhai Sahib met Bhai Ranjit Singh Tharu Wala at the Sri Darbar Sahib complex and established a good contact with this Jhujaru Singh group. From that day on, Bhai Sahib started doing sewa within the Sikh Freedom Movement secretly.

One day as Bhai Sahib continued to do sewa in secret from home, an informant who held a grudge against Bhai Sahib and his family had Sardar Major Singh and Bhai Sahib’s younger brother, Bhai Harchand Singh arrested by the Jhabbal police. Both father and son were brutally tortured and had bones in their bodies broken by the Punjab police. After this Bhai Sahib left home forever and joined Khalistan Commando Force to take part in Jhujaru actions openly.

Bhai Sahib would always complete the actions assigned to him with bravery. Bhai Sahib would carefully plan each action and never leave any room for error. Looking at Bhai Sahib’s dedication and strength, he was given the rank of Lieutenant General of his area. The locals looked up to Bhai Sahib, as his honesty and bravery was known to everyone. Bhai Sahib himself would kidnap thieves, gangsters, drug dealers and through them into police stations to make the police do their job. Bhai Sahib had very lovable personality, he would never let himself or anyone else hurt innocent people, in fact Bhai Sahib had the responsibility to protect the Hindus of his area, as this armed movement did not have a racist motive behind it. Bhai Sahib also helped the poor, for example he would fund the weddings of girls that were from poor families. Bhai Sahib also provided the poor families with groceries and household items such as dishes, plates, cups etc.

Bhai Sahib had one many actions for the panth but all cannot be written as the jeevani will get very long for the readers. Soon that day also came, the day which is awaited by all Jhujaru Singhs, the day that completes the life of a jhujaru singh and that is the day of martyrdom. Bhai Sahib was travelling to the village of Kotli, near Ajnala with another 4 singhs from his group. An informant did his job by notifying the Indian security forces about Bhai Sahib’s location. Soon Bhai Sahib and fellow singhs found themselves surrounded by thousands of Indian troops. To escape the singhs fired the first bullet and started the battle.

It was 13th February 1989, the singhs of Guru Gobind Singh Ji fought the enemy bravely for many hours but no route of escape was made. After causing heavy damage of lives to the Indian security forces, the 5 singhs did their ardas and swallowed a capsule Sy-Nyde each and attained shaheedi. The singhs had decided to sacrifice their lives instead of being captured by the enemy alive. When the locals found out about the shaheedi of the singhs, trucks and buses full of public came to the cremation of Bhai Sahib to pay their last respects to the fallen soldiers of Khalistan.
