Shaheed Bhai Mohinder Singh Fauji

Khalistan Commando Force

Bhai Mohinder Singh Fauji alias Mama Fulla was born in the year of 1968, in the house of Sardar Ujagar Singh and from the womb of Mata Amar Kaur in the village of Padhri Kalan, near Sursingh district Amritsar. Sardar Ujagar Singh was a retired soldier of the Indian Army. After retiring from the army, Sardar Ujagar Singh started farming and like this the family had the basic luxuries of life. Bhai Sahib had an older brother, Bhai Sukhdev Singh alias Heera Singh was also in the army and later was made Shaheed in 1987 in a fake encounter by the Beas police. Bhai Sahib studied up to 10th class at Padhri Kalan’s government school as well as studying Bhai Sahib was also a top sportsman, he was one of the top players in the school hockey team. After completing 10th classes at school, Bhai Sahib like his father decided to serve the country and joined the Indian Army at the age of 17 years. Bhai Sahib did 5 year service in the army and in February 1990, Bhai Sahib gave his resignation and left the army.

Bhai Sahib’s whole family were Gursikhs and Bhai Sahib himself was of religious views from a very young age. Bhai Sahib had taken Amrit from the Panj Pyare of Bidhi Chand Nihang Dal under the Jathedari of Baba Daya Singh Ji Bidhi Chand. Bhai Sahib was very loved by Baba Daya Singh Ji Bidhi Chand. During the time in the army Bhai Sahib married Bibi Parwinder Kaur in June 1987. Bhai Sahib had two children, a daughter Bibi Jasmeet Kaur and a son Bhai Bageecha Singh. Then in 1987 Bhai Sahib older brother, Sukhdev Singh alias Heera Singh who was doing sewa under the Babbar Khalsa was made Shaheed by Beas police in a fake encounter. This had shocked Bhai Sahib to his core. Bhai Sahib started remaining stressed and had lost all hope in the Indian government. Bhai Sahib like many other Sikhs decided to join the Sikh Freedom Movement and fight for Khalistan while still in the Indian Army. Bhai Sahib started to take part in the Khalistan activities with his nephew Bhai Surjit Singh Farandipur, who was doing sewa with Bhindranwala Tigers Force of Khalistan. Whenever Bhai Sahib came home on holiday he would meet Jhujaru Singhs in the area. In February 1990, Bhai Sahib left the army and now joined Khalistan Commando Force under the command of Bhai Wassan Singh Zaffarwal.

In a short time Bhai Sahib managed to become one of the most active Jhujaru Singhs in the area, his experience in the army played great part in this. While Bhai Sahib was active in his area, no Indian security force harassed the locals or families of Jhujaru Singhs, no robber or gangster committed any crime in the area as they all feared the wrath of Bhai Sahib. The main duty Bhai Sahib had in the Khalistan Commando Force was to cross the borders into Pakistan and bring shipment of weapons into Punjab. Bhai Sahib also taught the warfare tactics, while doing his sewa in the Sikh Freedom Movement. On many occasions Bhai Sahib came face to face with Punjab Police, CRPF and BSF and without fear fought the enemy head on. After causing heavy damage to Indian security forces, Bhai Sahib would always escaped.

On 25th October 1990, Bhai Sahib’s nephew, Bhai Surjit Singh Farandipur and another Singh attained Shaheedi in a fierce encounter which lasted more than 12 hours. This was sad news for Bhai Sahib, but true to the cause Bhai Sahib continued to focus of Freedom of the Sikhs, Bhai Sahib remained in high spirits. About 20 days after the Shaheedi of Bhai Surjit Singh Farandipur an informant told the Indian security forces of Bhai Sahib’s location. Bhai Sahib and Bhai Gurmukh Singh Blair were staying at a house in village of Blair, when the CRPF and Bhikhiwind police surrounded the Singhs on 12th November 1990. In a fierce encounter many security personnel were killed, in the end both Singhs attained Shaheed.
