Shaheed Bhai Hardev Singh Bapu was from the city of Bristol in England. After the events of June 1984, Bhai Sahib was very deeply sadden and wowed to take revenge of the attack on Sri Harimandir Sahib, Sri Akaal Takht Sahib and many more gurudwara in Punjab. Bhai Sahib along with his family moved to the area of Smethwick, Birmingham and joined the International Sikh Youth Federation of Birmingham. Bhai Sahib was very well known for his nitnemi, if there was ever a roll duty at the gurudwaras of Birmingham, Bhai Sahib would jump to the opportunity. Bhai Sahib would recite bani for more than 5hours continuously.
The dream of Bhai Sahib was for the Sikh nation to have its own homeland. In 1987, Bhai Hardev Singh Bapu left his family and a peaceful life in England to join his brothers in the fight for Khalistan. Bhai Sahib met Bhai Avtar Singh Bramha, Chief General of Khalistan Liberation and told him that he had left England to come and join him punish the enemies of the Khalsa panth. Bhai Avtar Singh Bramha asked Bhai Sahib to go back to England and do sewa from there, Bhai Avtar Singh Bramha also said more people need to be told about the events of 1984. Bhai Hardev Singh Bapu said that he had done Ardas, that he will give his head for the foundations of Khalistan. Seeing the courage and the love for Sikhi Bhai Avtar Singh Bramha made Bhai Hardev Singh Bapu a member of the Khalistan Liberation Force and said you are a ‘Bapu’.
Bhai Sahib used to recite the nitnem for many top members of Khalistan Liberation Force after taking training from Bhai Avtar Singh Bramha in 1987, Bhai Hardev Singh Bapu was crossing the borders into Pakistan, but Bhai Sahib along with other singhs got surrounded by the CRP AND Indian army just before crossing the borders. Bhai Sahib got his fellow singhs to escape and he himself engaged in a fierce combat after killing many CRP and Indian army personnel, Bhai Sahib attained shaheedi and spilt his blood in the foundations of Khalistan.
Bhai Hardev Singh Bapu is greatly missed and remembered by his family and friends in England. Bhai Sahib was a true lion of the panth who sacrificed his life for Khalistan. Bhai Sahib’s family are currently in Birmingham, England.
