Shaheed Bhai Hardeep Singh Deepa

Khalistan Commando Force/ Bhindranwala Tigers Force of Khalistan

Bhai Hardeep Singh Deepa was born in the house of Sardar Charan Singh and from the womb of Mata Balvir Kaur in the village of Rampura, district Amritsar. Bhai Sahib was the 4thh eldest of 6 siblings (4 bothers and 2 sisters). Sardar Charan Singh was a farmer by trade and provided for his family by working in his farms. Bhai Sahib passed his 12th class at the government college in Khadur Sahib. After this Bhai Sahib took admission for BA course, but due to getting railway police officer job he left his studies midway. Where Bhai Sahib showed his intelligence in his studies, he also proved he was an active player in sports, especially in Kabaddi in which he won many trophies and medals.

Bhai Sahib very tall young man, taller than 6 foot. This was one of the reasons why Bhai Sahib got the job at the Amritsar railway station as a police officer. During this time Bhai Sahib came in contact with Khalistan Commando Force’s Bhai Gurmail Singh Fauji (village Panjwar, Bhikhiwind). Then Bhai Sahib was transferred to Firozpur, Bhai Sahib had always been involved in Jhujaru actions in secret. In the railway police department, Bhai Sahib was usually given many important duties, out of which transporting official government weapons via truck was the most important.

Bhai Sahib had previously planned to steal the weapon packed truck, in May/June 1990 Bhai Sahib stole the truck and took it to Panjwar village where he handed over the truck to the Jhujaru Singhs of Khalistan Commando Force. This action helped the Khalistan Commando Force progress in the Sikh freedom movement and after this Bhai Sahib left his family, house and his work to join the Sikh struggle for Khalistan full time. Bhai Sahib started doing Jhujaru actions under the command of Bhai Gurmail Singh Fauji and Bhai Puran Singh Bhojjian. After the martyrdom of Bhai Gurmail Singh Fauji, Bhai Sahib joined Bhindranwala Tigers Force of Khalistan under the command of Bhai Sukhwinder Singh Sangha and continued his service to the Khalistan armed movement. Like this Bhai Sahib remained with Bhai Sukhwinder Singh Sangha till his last breath. Enough love and respect was attached to Bhai Sahib’s name.

On 22nd February 1991, Bhai Sahib along with Bhai Puran Singh Bhojjian were resting at a location next to a government school in the Panwar village. The police were given the information on both Jhujaru brothers and within hours the whole Panjwar village was surrounded by Indian security forces. Soon as the Jhujaru Singhs saw the heavy presence of the Indian soldiers, they opened fire and fierce battle started. The battle moved into the Bhojjian village and away from the school, as the Bhai Sahib didn’t want innocent children being caught in the crossfire. In the end, Bhai Sahib and Bhai Puran Singh managed to set a bunker in a room of the Gurdwara Sahib of Bhojjian. This battle started in the morning and right in to the evening. When Bhai Sahib and Bhai Puran Singh were badly injured and there was no way of survival, they swallowed cyanide capsule and gave their martyrdom. The body of both Jhujaru Singhs was not given to their families.
